Radiofrequency ablation is a very useful dermatosurgical procedure for treatment of various skin lesions using electrical energy (alternating current) at high frequencies (these high frequency waves are called radio waves as they are used in the transmission of radio signals).
Advantages
Though similar treatments can be done using electrocautery, Radiofrequency is preferred as it allows the dermatologist or the surgeon to be more precise and has a lesser risk of damage to surrounding normal areas. Hence, it reduces the chances of adverse effects like scarring and abnormal pigmentation.
It is preferred over using strong acid as precision is possible and chances of pigmentary problems after the treatment is less.
1. Dermatoses Papulosa Nigra (DPN)
Brown to black elevated, very small mole like lesions, they are non-infectious and very common in Asians. They are harmless and need to be treated only for cosmetic reasons.
2. Acrochordons or Skin Tags
Skin tags are common, acquired, harmless skin growths that look like a small piece of soft hanging skin.
3. Warts
A viral infection that commonly occurs on the fingers, hands and face. They may spread by touch from one person to the other and also within the same person.
4. Molluscum Contagiosum
A viral infection that is common in children, especially on the face. It is contagious.
5. Milla
Tiny pearl-like elevations commonly seen near the eyes.
6. Seborrheic Keratoses
Brown to black elevated growths with stuck on appearance.
7. Verrucous Epidermal Naevi
It is a kind of birth mark.
8. Pyogenic Granuloma less than 1 cm.
9. Special Consent Syringomas / verrucous/epidermal naevi Trichoepithelioma. Client should sign the written consent informing about their recurrence or relapse and requirement of repeated sessions.
